Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Exploring Reykjavík

Upon arrival, you will be met by your private chauffeur, who will transfer you from Keflavík Airport to the amazing Blue Lagoon Spa. After the healing bath, head to your hotel in Reykjavík, where you will be greeted with Champagne and chocolate from Iceland´s finest chocolatier. Enjoy the afternoon/evening exploring the city and dining at one of Reykjavik’s fines restaurants. Stay in the heart of Reykjavík. Highlights:Blue Lagoon Reykjavik City Centre

Day 2: Romance by Snæfellsjökull Glacier

Climb into your rental car and head out to Snæfellsjökull National Park on the Snæfellsnes peninsula, a perfect location for nature lovers with amazing birdlife, lush valleys and lava fields. The glacier is believed by many to be one of Earth’s seven major energy centers and was the backdrop to Jules Verne’s famous novel Journey to the Centre of the Earth. Snæfellsnes is great for horseback riding tours, boat tours and walks along the beach, as well as bird watching and, if lucky, you might be able to see some seals by the coastline under Snæfelsjökull glacier. Stay the night in the Snæfellsnes area. Driving distance approx. 150 km. Highlights:Búðir,Arnarstapi,Hellnar, Lóndrangar, Dritvík, Stykkishólmur.

Day 3: Snæfellsnes and valley of Skagafjörður

Spend the first half of the day exploring Snæfelljsökull National Park and all it has to offer before heading towards the valley of Skagafjörður. Skagafjörður is known as ‘The Mecca of the Icelandic Horse’ and is an ideal place to try riding the friendly local breed. You can take a dip in the hot pool Grettislaug at beach Reykjanesströnd where Grettir the Strong, one of Iceland’s most notorious outlaws, in the Saga Age bathed after swimming from Drangey shortly after 1000 AD. Stay the night in the Skagafjörður area. Driving distance approx. 320 km.

Day 4: Akureyri, Lake Mývatn and Nature Baths

Drive to Akureyri, the friendly ‘capital of north Iceland’ situated in Eyjafjörður. Explore the welcoming city, museums, cafés and surroundings before visiting Goðafoss (the waterfall of the Gods) on your way to the enchanting Lake Mývatn. The Lake is beautifully located in an area of surreal landscape, bubbling hot springs, moon-like pseudo craters and hot pools. Sights include the sizzling mud-pots at Námafjall, the pseudo craters at Skútustaðir, the lava maze Dimmuborgir and the Krafla volcanic region to name a few. End the day by relaxing in the Mývatn Nature Baths and enjoy bathing in a pool of geothermal water drawn from depths of up to 2,500 meters, where in summer you can experience the midnight sun and in winter the dancing northern lights. Stay the night in the Lake Mývatn area. Driving distance approx. 220 km.

Day 5: Lake Mývatn and Exotic Lava Fields

Explore the surroundings of Lake Mývatn. Many areas around the lake offer excellent hiking opportunities as well as other optional activities. Visit Húsavík where in summer, you can take an amazing whale-watching tour on an oak-boat. Experience some of the natural phenomena of Jökulsárgljúfur, the canyon Ásbyrgi and the most powerful waterfall in Europe, Dettifoss. Stay the night in the Lake Mývatn area. Driving distance approx. 220 km. Highlights:Húsavík, Jökulsárgljúfur, Ásbyrgi, Dettifoss, Optional: whale watching.

Day 6: Tranquil Fjords

Drive through the magnificent eastern fjords towards Berufjörður. Each fjord is unique, and you will find many small fishing villages with friendly people in picturesque settings; sights include Mt. Búlandstindur and the monster-habitat Lagarfljót River. Stay the night in the charming seaside-village of Djúpivogur. Driving distance approx. 310 km. Highlights:Möðrudalur, Sænautasel, Egilsstaðir, Petra’s Mineral Collection, Djúpivogur

Day 7: Glacier Lagoon and Skaftafell National Park

Head south to the picturesque Glacial Lagoon Jökulsárlón, where in summer, you can take an amazing boat ride between the icebergs floating on the lake. Spend the rest of the day exploring some of the wonders of Skaftafell, a part of Vatnajökull Skaftafell National Park, situated by the roots of the Vatnajökull Glacier, the largest National Park in Europe. There are many interesting hiking trails in Skaftafell, including one to the waterfall Svartifoss, which drops from the edge of a wide cliff of basalt columns. Stay the night in Skaftafell/Kirkjubæjarklaustur area. Driving distance approx. 290 km. Day 8: Cliffs and Waterfalls

Drive via the beautiful south coast. Sights along the way include the spectacular sands and rock formations of Vík and glacier Mýrdalsjökull. There you will have the opportunity to experience a guided glacial hike or riding Icelandic horses in the area. These activities are not included in the tour price but can be added on request. Visit the stunning Skógafoss waterfall and graceful Seljalandsfoss waterfall where you can experience walking right behind the flowing water and feel the light drizzle. Stay in a romantic country-hotel in the Hvolsvöllur area. Driving distance approx. 160 km. Highlights: Fjaðrárgljúfur, Vík, Dyrhólaey

Day 9: Geysir and Gullfoss

Travel to some of the best-known natural phenomena in Iceland, including the great Geysir area with its spouting Geysers and colorful hot springs. Continue to the Gullfoss waterfall, “The Golden Waterfall” and the beautiful Þingvellir National Park. This romantic park, which has been nominated as a UNESCO world heritage site, is an ancient assembly site of the Vikings and is set in the picturesque area of vast lava fields, a tranquil lake and deep gorges. Continue to close the circle and head to Reykjavik where you will stay the night. Driving distance approx. 250 km. Highlights: Kerið, Skálholt, Geysir area, Gullfoss, Þingvellir National Park. Day 10: Departure
