Day 1: Caldwell Zoo
This is a very nice zoo, it is on the small side compared to the ones in the ‘big’ metropolitan areas but it is definitely a place that you need to see if you are in Tyler. The animal exhibits are ample and the layout of the zoo is well organized. The grounds are very well maintained and the animals look well taken care of. The ‘African Plains’ area is big and beautiful; from the sitting area you can really enjoy the tranquility of the open space the animals are far enough to give them space but close enough for you to actually feel like they are close.The Tyler Zoo is a treat. Small zoo, very few primates but other than that it is a great half day experience where you can find Lots of natural habitat.
Day 2: Tyler Rose Garden
Tyler is the city of Roses and with good reason. This free, large rose garden sports many prize winning roses with lovely grounds to walk on. October is filled with rose celebrations and parades, but June is a nice time to see the blooms. This is a beautiful place that is a not-to-miss when you are in Tyler.
Day 3: Brookshire’s World of Wildlife Museum and Country Store
You will surprise to see the large display of wildlife. So much was set up like would be in the wild.
Day 4: The 1859 Goodman-LeGrand House and Museum
One of the most well preserved with original furnishings and artifacts (not replicas of the time) and so accurately documented. Very interesting and beautiful site owned by the city of Tyler.
