Day 02:

Amsterdam
After breakfast, proceed for a Full Day Grand Tour of Holland. This tour begins with a visit to Aalsmeer, a town Southwest of Amsterdam, known as the Flower Capital of the World. It derives this name from the flower markets and its flower auction, the largest flower auction in the world conducted daily in the 4th largest building in the world (in terms of floor space). Over 90% of the Dutch flower trade occurs here, with the auction starting early in the morning; over 20 million flowers of different types and colors are sold here daily. One can very well imagine the vibrant colors that awaits one here. Our next stop is the potteries at Delft, a city famous for its blue and white tin-glazed pottery known as Delftware or Delft Pottery. Delft Pottery has its origins in the 16th century and the art continues to thrive with several potteries receiving recognition across the majority of Europe. The visit to the factories will include a guided tour, which will explain in detail the history of its making and how this art made its way from China to Holland. After the tour of Delft Potteries, we will proceed to the city of Rotterdam, the second largest city in Holland, and home to one of the largest ports in the world. Its location at the heart of massive rail, road, air, and inland waterway distribution system makes it the Gateway to Europe and a vibrant, multi-culture city. The tour of Rotterdam will include a tour of the experimental architectural landmarks that came up post the World War II bombings. Our next visit is to Hague, the third largest city of Holland. Hague is famous on several facets – it is the seat of the Dutch Government and Parliament, it is home to Queen Beatrix, and houses over 150 international and EU organizations. Embassies and International Courts all find a place here in addition to several MNC, lending Hague the title ‘Judicial Capital of the World’ as well as an international flair and culture. While it is one of the most sophisticated cities of the country, it also houses some of the most historical buildings, thereby, enjoying a unique flavor of past meets present. The tour ends with a stop at Madurodam, the smallest town of Holland, before returning back to Amsterdam. This town was designed as a miniature version of Holland; miniatures of famous landmarks across the country find a presence here. Initially designed as a war memorial and charitable institution, Madurodam is now a highly popular tourist attraction. Return to Amsterdam and overnight stay at Amsterdam hotel.
