The property is laid out in a straight line with the main lodge and all of the cabins facing the beachfront and a long dock extending into the water.

Features: Small Hope has two lovely beaches, separated by the outdoor dining area and the dock. It offers large variety of excursions, including diving, fishing, snorkeling, and nature walks, that keep guests active and occupied. For kids, there’s also a small outdoor playground with swings and ladders.

Accommodation: Small Hope’s cabins are squat, one-story wood buildings lined up in a row facing the beach. Amenities are basic but include air-conditioning, standup fans, safes, and water coolers but with no TVs or Wi-Fi. Each cottage is fronted by a small cement porch with a pair of wood chairs.

Food: Being an all-inclusive property, the room rate includes all meals, bar drinks and beverages. All meals are buffet-style and staff will come around to replace plates and provide beverages. The bar is manned in the afternoons, at other times of the day; guests are welcome to prepare any drink they would like.

Accommodation: All but the least-expensive Sky Suites have an in-room infinity pool, meaning a pool whose water cascades over the edge, seemingly blending into the view of the sea, offering incredible views of the Pitons and the Caribbean Sea.

Food: Local, organic produce is used to prepare international cuisine on-site. The casual Jade Mountain Club serves an eclectic mix of cuisines and local flavors exclusively to Jade Mountain’s guests. Much of the produce is organically grown on the resort’s Emerald Estate plantation.

The Caves features 12 idyllic Cliffside cottages, a grand villa, 2 dining gazebos, private caves and the signature Blackwell Rum Bar.  There’s also a Spa, Jacuzzi, sauna, private hot tub and salt­water swimming pool, all just within steps of the glittering sapphire sea.

Features: The Caves Resort offers saltwater pool, a private ocean-view Jacuzzi, an intimate spa, and free yoga classes which allow guests to relax and commune with nature. In addition to that, free bikes, kayaks, snorkeling gear are readily available for land and sea excursions.

Accommodation: The resort offers 12 unique one- and two-bedroom suites and cottages, all far larger and quirkier than traditional hotel rooms. The Caves boasts of outdoor showers, large tubs, stone floors, and no TVs (except by request).

Food: The food (included in the room rate) is excellent and incorporates seasonal ingredients. The local cuisines are given preference. At each meal, guests are generally presented with two to three entree choices complemented with fruits and salad.

Features: Stretching over 400 acres (including 2 miles of beach), the 230-room resort offers attentive service, quality cuisine, and seemingly limitless activities like golfing and horseback riding. What truly sets Half Moon apart is its breadth of activities it offers. Guests can swim with dolphins in the resort’s private cove, ride horses through the water, take tennis or golf lessons.

Accommodation: The suite at Half Moon resort featured tiled floors, ceiling fans and air-conditioning, which I didn’t need because of the ocean breeze. The suite offered a remarkable ocean-view terrace. While the suites had 32 and 40 inch TVs, Panasonic flat-screens are included in the Royal Suites only.

Food: Half Moon offers a number of different meal plans are available including half board, full board or the Half Moon Plan which includes breakfast, lunch and dinner at any of our restaurants as well as all drinks both soft and alcoholic and house wines by the glass as well as a discount of US$20 off any bottle of wine from the wine list.

There’s little reason to leave the resort premises.

Features: A long list of features including a beautiful beachfront, eight restaurants, and a spa. Secrets Wild Orchid offers 350 luxurious guest suites, each featuring British colonial décor, a king-size bed (or two queen-size beds), whirlpool tub, private balcony, complimentary mini-bar and much more.

Accommodation: The rooms at Secrets Wild Orchid have refined contemporary stylistic layout with four-blurb beds, MP3 docks, level screen TVs, drenching tubs, gigantic precipitation showerheads, and loaded scaled down bars. Suites feature massive Jacuzzis in both the bathroom and on the balcony. Even the least expensive rooms, however, are attractive and high-end.

Food: There are Mexican, Italian, Jamaican, Asian-fusion, and French a la carte restaurants, as well as the obligatory buffet restaurant at Secrets Wild Orchid. For the tipsy crowd, Secrets Wild Orchid has five bars, including the main pool’s swim-up bar, a piano bar, a music lounge, and a lobby bar.

This 225-room luxury all-inclusive, couples-only resort is one of the newest additions to the Sandals brand. It’s spread over a sprawling 17-acre property on the southwestern tip of the island. A sprawling, luxury all-inclusive with the romantic touches that are hallmarks of the Sandals brand are very well preserved at Sandals LaSource.

Features: A variety of water sports are available at the beach, such as kayaking, hobie cat sailing, windsurfing, and snorkeling and glass-bottom boat tours. Other activities include shuffleboard, tennis courts, yoga, and an excellent fitness center with new machines. The on-site dive shop offers unlimited diving for certified scuba divers.

Accommodation: There are 20 different room categories to choose from at this Sandals, split between the standard Luxury Level, Club Level, and Butler Level; each step adds a few amenities. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, mini-fridges stocked with juices and soft drinks (Club Sandals and above have alcohol, too), and coffee and tea facilities.

Food: There are 10 dining options in total at Sandals LaSource, including the casual English pub and a French bakery for snacks. Highlights include fine Italian, seafood on the beach, French cuisine, Caribbean-inspired dishes at Spices, and Sandals’ first steakhouse, Butch’s Chophouse.
