We visited this remarkable walkway after a long cross-country. Oh, what a treat! The canals are between Venice and Marina del Mar, about a $20 cab ride from LAX or a couple of dollars on 2 buses. Once there, the architecture is a joy–from the humble cottages that were first there in the 1920’s to the outlandish Tudor or gothic palaces, grand Mediterranean villas and minimalist glass contemporaries. Each one has a small garden and usually a dock, and as a visitor, you are almost part of their family barbecue. There is a superb inexpensive Italian restaurant on one of the streets that border the canals, Canoli Cafe on Washington Blvd. Really enjoyed the tour! The addition of food stops was awesome It was a well thought out mix of sweet and savory bites. Bar Marmont is an LA landmark and a great hang out spot. The music is alway great, the drinks are delicious, and the crowd sharp. A must vist city for love and Romance..;)
